Fare-Free Commuter Rail Alternative: Riders can use the Franklin/Foxboro, Needham, or Providence/Stoughton Lines fare-free for service between Forest Hills, Ruggles, Back Bay and South Station. Regular fares will apply to travel beyond Forest Hills. The trip between Forest Hills and Back Bay on the Commuter Rail is approximately 10 minutes.
Travel Time: Riders using shuttle bus service should budget extra travel time. For example, a rider traveling to Downtown Crossing from Forest Hills should allow for at least 30 minutes of travel in addition to their regular commute.

â Green Line: No trains between North Station & Babcock St (B), Kenmore (C+D), & Heath St (E) from December 8 - 22. Use buses between Babcock, Kenmore, Heath St (Rt 39) & Copley/Back Bay. Use Orange Line between Back Bay & North Station.
Scope of Work: This is to allow for work on the overhead catenary system, maintenance and upgrades, station brightening, and the continued installation of the Green Line Train Protection System.
Travel Time: Riders should allow for ample extra travel time. Rider trip times are expected to be at least 20 minutes longer than usual.
Accessibility: Accessible van service will be available for Green Line stops between Copley/Back Bay and North Station.
Bus Alternatives: Route 39 Bus will be fare-free. This route runs parallel to the Green Line E Branch
Route 57 Bus will be fare-free. This route runs parallel to the Green Line B Branch between Kenmore and Packard's Corner.
Commuter Rail Alternatives: Commuter Rail Worcester Line will be free to ride between Lansdowne, Back Bay, and South Station. Regular fares must be purchased for travel past Lansdowne Station.
